lorraine j. haricombe serves as the Vice Provost and Director of the University of Texas Libraries at the University of Texas at Austin where she provides strategic leadership and effective advocacy to position UT Libraries for global impact.

She has held several leadership positions most recently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and as President of the Board in 2019-2020. She has served as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) from 2013-2016.  In 2009-2010 she led the implementation of the first campus-wide Open Access Policy at a public institution at the University of Kansas. She is an elected member of the International Federation of Library Associations’ (IFLA) Standing Committee on Academic and Research Libraries.

She holds doctoral and master’s degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
