Jen Nichols

Jennifer Nichols is an Associate Librarian and Director of CATalyst Studios, an interdisciplinary makerspace and digital learning space at the University of Arizona Libraries. Jennifer’s work is centered on developing equitable practices within technology-rich spaces and fostering dynamic centers for interdisciplinary learning communities. She works with students, faculty and partners throughout the campus and greater community to support critical making, both formally and informally. In 2018 she was Co-PI of an NSF Dear Colleague Letter: Principles of the Design of Digital Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Learning Environments. With frequent collaborator Maggie Melo she co-edited Remaking the Library Makerspace: Critical Theories, Reflections, and Practices, published by Library Juice Press in 2020. Jennifer’s current maker activities involve food, sewing and poetry.
