Gina Maria Fernandes
Gina Maria Fernandes, Associate NOMA, LEED GA, is a second-year Ph.D. student at North Carolina State University in the College of Design. Her doctoral research focuses on the design of equitable learning environments at post-secondary institutions that foster a sense of belonging and mattering for historically underserved populations of students while simultaneously engaging students in the design process. Gina previously worked as an architectural designer and a co-chair of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Team at Ayers Saint Gross. She served as 2019-2021 President of the DC Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (DCNOMA) and she taught undergraduate architecture studios as an adjunct faculty member at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) 2019-2023. Gina holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from George Washington University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Maryland. Outside of her studies, Gina enjoys eating sandwiches.
