Shan Sutton
Shan C. Sutton has served as Dean of University of Arizona Libraries since 2017. He was a campus leader in the development of the University of Arizona Student Success District initiative. This $81 million project established a 9-acre district in the heart of campus that encompasses an array of student support services and library services across four buildings to create a seamless student experience among the buildings and their connecting outdoor spaces.
Sutton also serves as the Principal Investigator on the UA Libraries’ Digital Borderlands initiative. Funded with grants of $750,000 and $1,200,000 from the Mellon Foundation, this project integrates library services into faculty and student research on the US-Mexico borderlands through digital and archival scholarship methods while facilitating open access to research outputs.
